Who is an Educator?
An educator is a professional carer of children, running childcare facilities from their own home. An educator can provide flexible care; day care, before and after school care, weekend care and even overnight care – It’s up to you!
Daisy Family Day Care’s obligation is to help you do that, and to make sure that the children are safe, happy and learning new things.
What do you need to be an Educator?
The child care industry is highly regulated and there are many requirements that need to be met to ensure that you, your family and your environments are suitable for providing care to children – But don’t worry, we are here to help make the process as easy as possible.
To get the process started, all it takes is:
A passion for working with children and a commitment to providing a caring, nurturing and safe environment for children.
A home suitable for Family Day Care (We can help you evaluate)!
A Current Working With Children Check in NSW
First Aid (CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis) Certificate (Current)
At least a Certificate III in Children’s Services or willingness to enroll in the course.
The ability to run your own business (We would support you at every step)

What Can I Expect to Earn as a Family Day Care Educator?
Daisy Family Day Care charges $10 per hour. This includes a $0.99 per hour administration levy, which Kids First charges to help cover administration and processing costs. As you are allowed a total of 7 children in care at one time, this means you can potentially earn up to $63 per hour! – after Kids First deducts the admin levy.
Parents are required to pay the child care fees to the educator. However, Kids First is a CCB approved child care service. This means the Federal Government pays for part of the child care fees for children enlisted with Kids First through Centrelink. The amount Centrelink pays the educators varies depending on the parent’s income and other factors; please refer to the Educator Agreement for more information. However, if, by example, one child you are looking after is eligible for 50 hours of Government Funding and has a 100% CCB rate, you can expect to earn just over $200 (approximate figure) a week just from Government Funding and you would be expected to collect the rest of the money from the parent of the child.
What Does Daisy Charge an Educator?
Daisy charges only a $0.60 per hour per child admin levy.
